We really are spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. From fine dining through to a satisfying country pub meal, or a great coffee, there’s plenty to choose from. Dine out or feel free to bring food back to your room.

The Cottage

SCONE. This quaint cottage nestled in the main street of Scone was built in the 1860s. With its grand proportions and old fashioned character it’s been lovingly restored and is now one of the region’s most acclaimed restaurants. The menu features high quality ingredients and showcases local beef, with a chateaubriand dish being just one of the highlights. Open for breakfast Tuesday to Saturday, and lunch and dinner Thursday to Saturday.

The Thoroughbred

SCONE. Another beautiful old country pub on Scone’s main street, dating from 1915, The Thoroughbred has been sumptuously refurbished and now houses Thoroughbred Bakery, Bar & Restaurant. The restaurant features a steakhouse-style menu with steaks, gourmet burgers and seafood. Open 7 days for lunch and dinner. The bakery offers a delicious array of breads and pastries, and great coffee.

Doncaster Bistro

SCONE. You’ll find the Doncaster Bistro at our local RSL in Scone. You can have a round of golf or a game of bowls and a reliably good meal. There are Australian and Chinese menus to choose from. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days. Delivery available.

Timmy Thai

SCONE. Every place needs a great Thai restaurant, and for us it’s Timmy Thai in Scone. It’s not an extensive menu but you will find many of your favourites.

The Royal Hotel

SCONE. We have no shortage when it comes to a good pub feed. The Royal is yet another beautiful historic pub on the main street. It serves up delicious hearty meals including steaks, pastas, parmies and a great mixed grill. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days.

The Belmore Hotel

SCONE. Built in 1866 The Belmore is a beautiful country pub on the main street of Scone. The bistro is family friendly and serves up a good range of “pub grub” – steaks, schnitzels, pastas and burgers. There’s also a lovely beer garden. Open for lunch and dinner 7 days.

Hunter Belle Cheese Cafe

MUSWELLBROOK. Hunter Belle cheese is showcased throughout the menu of the cafe at Hunter Belle Cheese. Choices include a Local Produce Platter for 2 , a mouthwatering Rueben with house-made sauerkraut topped with oozing Red Rouda, and Camembelle & Roasted Veg pizza. You can also enjoy a glass of local Hunter wine, locally roasted gourmet coffee or creamy gelato, made in-house. Open Daily until 4pm.

The Remington Restaurant

MUSWELLBROOK. The Remington Restaurant is arguably Muswellbrook’s finest dining experience, providing a high standard of food and atmosphere. The menu is a well curated choice of modern Australian cuisine, using locally sourced produce. Cocktails and local wines are available too. Open for dinner excluding Sunday.

Double Picc Cafe

MUSWELLBROOK. Double Picc is a vibrant new cafe that has become a firm favourite with both visitors and locals. The coffee is fantastic, using locally roasted Sardos coffee beans. The menu comprises a good variety of cafe food with burgers, toasties and melts, salads, pies and plenty of sweet offerings. Located in the historic Campbell’s Corner building and open weekdays 6am to 5pm, and 7am to 1pm weekends.

Life of Pie

MURRURUNDI. If you find yourself in beautiful Murrurundi (and we recommend you do!) grab a quick bite to eat at this colourful bakery. Life of Pie offer a large range of pies, sausage rolls, cakes, artisan breads, sandwiches and great coffee. Most products are freshly baked onsite and they’re open daily.

Big Brown Dog Kiosk

MURRURUNDI. This simple offering will top you up on your visit to Michael Reid Murrurundi – a gallery and concept store set in beautiful gardens. The Kiosk serves its own coffee blend, a mix of Nicaragua, Ethiopia and Columbian coffees. A delicious range of cakes, slices and biscuits is on offer, all home-made. Open Thursday to Sunday, 9.30am to 3pm.

Vines at Hollydene

JERRYS PLAINS. With breathtaking views across the Wollemi National Park, award-winning Vines at Hollydene is located on one of the Hunter’s oldest vineyards. With Paddock to Plate  philosophy Vines specialises in showcasing the region’s produce, offering modern rustic Australian dining. Accompanied of course by the Estate’s award-winning wines. Open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch, and for dinner Fridays and Saturdays.

The Royal Hotel

DENMAN. The Royal is an  gem of a country pub. The beautiful historic building has been fully renovated and is fresh and inviting while retaining its heritage feel. There’s a lovely dining room and a family-friendly beer garden. The food is good, reliable country fare, with steaks, fish and chips, salads, pastas and more. Open daily.

The Third Wheel Restaurant

MOONAN FLAT. The Moonan Flat Pub sits on the banks of the Hunter River and was once a Cobb & Co. staging post. Today it’s home to a great little restaurant. The Third Wheel offers up a traditional pub experience with a small menu that offers all your hearty favourites – steak, schnitzel, bangers and mash and more. Open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner. Limited menu offered Monday and Tuesday.

Linga Longa Inn

GUNDY. Linga Longa Inn is yet another great, historic country pub with a restaurant that provides good, reliable and tasty meals. Recently renovated the pub is lovely inside, but the real highlight is the outdoor area with lawn, stately trees and wonderful views of the Pages River. You’re spoilt for choice with a comprehensive menu. Open for lunch and dinner Wednesday to Sunday.

The Commercial Hotel

ABERDEEN. In this lovely rural town, full of history, sits yet another great country pub, the Art Deco-style Commercial. The bistro reliably churns out an impressively comprehensive menu and it’s always worth checking out the daily specials. Open daily.
